The Library

The doors to the library are open today.
Really open.
Not a call ahead and pick up your books
at the front door kind of day,
but a climb the stairs
and peruse the new books collection
and lose oneself in the stacks
poised to find a old friendly treasure kind of day.
Sheer delight after a year away.
Still masked and socially distanced,
but most of all grateful
and keenly aware of the simple things
we once took for granted.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.

So true, Mary Jane. We took such simple things for granted!
