Winter Beach

Unabashedly disheveled
in its winter garb.
Gulls huddled
under closely tucked wings.
Footprints tell a tale
of boot clad feet.
Barefoot bliss of summer
a memory and a hope.
Rhythmic tide
hums with continuity.
Salt air invigorates
a wanderer on these shores.
Solitude provides
time for contemplation.
The quiet opens the door
for peace.
