Week at a Glance (April 12 – April 18)

A week when the kitchen birds wore their necklaces
as a symbol of hope on this Easter like no other.
A week when a sourdough starter named April
bubbled with enthusiasm and joined with flour,
water and salt to produce a sturdy loaf of bread.
A week when daily walks drew us to the solace of water,
and the simple beauty of a slate staircase.
And with each sunrise came a promise
of  light and warmth, and better days ahead.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
