January Beach

Last year on this date,
Old Silver
was frozen in place.
Waves captured in an iron grasp
as they rolled towards
a snow encrusted beach.
Winter had a strangle hold
on our shores.

Our January beach
is peaceful
as this new year opens.
Waves remain free
with their normal ebb and flow.
A lone seagull
contemplates the expanse
and appreciates the moment,
as do we.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.

Nice pictures!!! Quite a contrast between the 2 years. I am enjoying this year’s temperatures much more. But still a lot of winter left.
