Chair For All Seasons

Blue chair.
You welcome
the warmth of summer
with its flurry of activity.
Your arms a resting spot
for plates and cups,
and your seat
ready for a cast of visitors.
Fall brings signs of change.
Leaves cluster on
your now empty seat and arms.
Activity in your playground slows.
And with the first light dusting of snow
comes the realization
that it’s time to sigh and settle in
for the long lonely season.
Winter has arrived.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
