Perfect Spring Day

Spring has taken its own sweet time arriving on the Cape this year. But it has arrived in all its glory. Screens are in place. Windows and doors are open. Breezes tossing curtains inward and filling the rooms with the scent of lilac from the bushes in the front of the house.

Lily of the Valley finds its way from corners of the yard to random corners of the house creating a sense of garden when you least expect it. Those tiny flowers give off a fragrance that belie their size.

Perhaps it’s the result of slogging through day after day of cold rain that has resulted in the almost universal joy greeting this perfect spring day. Funny how sweetness is best appreciated after adversity.
