Quiet Week

Excitement of anticipation has reached its peak with Christmas morning. Shower of wrapping paper now stuffed into trash bags in the garage. Santa safely tucked back at the North Pole. No doubt exhausted by his efforts. The elf has abandoned his monitoring of pre-Christmas behavior and his shelf is empty. Leftovers rule in the food department. Christmas cookies, a bit crumbled, but not yet stale, remain the dessert of choice. Tree lights still glow, but provide a soft background instead of a vibrant center of activity. Quiet week between Christmas and New Years begins with a relaxed yawn. Even Daisy is having a slow start. Sam had to convince her that it was worth the effort to start her day by going outside before breakfast.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
