Watermelon Stars

IMG_3323

The crowds on the Cape this weekend have been daunting. Glorious weather and the fact that the actual holiday fell on a Monday contributed to the volume, I’m sure. Grateful, yet again, that we won’t be part of the massive exit that brings closure to our busiest week of the summer.

It’s been a good weekend. Funny how food centric these holidays can be. This mid-summer holiday centers around the standard hot dog, hamburger, potato salad laden table. But it also celebrates salmon and lobster, watermelon and corn. Outdoor food. Messy, fun food. Essence of summer food.

In the spirit of the holiday, I added watermelon stars with a drizzle of balsamic glaze to last night’s salad plates. Have to love summer!
