Gypsy Moth Droppings

Early morning on the deck. Quiet now with family still sleeping. Just me and the birds. And the Daddy Long Legs carefully picking its way through the Gypsy Moth droppings.

Idly thinking that I really need to sweep the deck and brush off the chairs before the kids wake up. Haven’t explained what these little black pebble-like droppings are to the munchkins. Lauren would be horrified. Poop falling from the trees is definitely not her thing. Mikey, on the other hand, would probably like it. He would, at least, be fascinated by it and have a million questions.

Coward that I am, I plan to get out the broom and avoid the need for explanation. The infestation is nearly over. The deck should be free of this nastiness by their next visit.
