June Morning

Sights and sounds of early morning.
Woodpecker attacking the house
with the startling intensity of a dentist’s drill.
Happy chattering of chipmunks
as they race one another through the bushes.
Vestiges of last night’s wind and rain evident
in the languid drip of water leaking from the gutter;

the tangle of leaves and branches littering the deck,
and the listless droop of moisture laden flowers.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
