Daffodil Days

Earth Day. A day tinged with a bit of fear
at what we could lose if we ignore our role
in protecting our environment.
But also a day to pause and wonder
at the majesty that surrounds us.
To stroll the paths of Spohr Gardens with its
riotous tumble of daffodils nodding in the breeze.
To view the home based winter ravaged garden
and empty flower boxes with a determined gleam of action.
Time to grab a rake and start the cleanup process.
Too early for summer impatiens in the flower boxes,
but sweet faced pansies will more than do.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
