Beaujolais Nouveau

First wine of the harvest.
Vibrant, lush,
with all the newness
and promise of youth.
Delight in this time
of celebration diminished,
but not dashed,
by  recent events.
Time for people
everywhere
to pour the wine
and raise a glass
in solidarity for all
that is positive and good
in this world.
Time to stand tall
against the forces
ruled by hatred
that attempt to dominate
by devastating violence.
May the new wine
be a symbol of unity
and hope for the future.
Fear must not win.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
