Meandering with Daisy

IMG_2650

It is not every day that the world arranges itself into a poem.
Wallace Stevens

I was thinking about this quote as Daisy and I were on what we fondly refer to as a “neighborhood sniff.” There are days when I try to encourage her to add a little spring to her step, (Frank never does this!) but yesterday, we just took a leisurely stroll.

Perhaps I should adopt this approach more often. Our peaceful meandering allowed me to be aware of the light filtering through the trees, and conscious of the almost dreamy quality of leaves caught and twirled in the light breeze as they made their way from branch to ground.

Perhaps Daisy takes her time to sniff because she doesn’t want to miss anything by rushing on to the next activity. There just might be a lesson there!

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
