A Really Great Gift

IMG_2326

We joke about the fact that Daisy, our anniversary gift to one another seven years ago, is the ultimate gift that keeps on giving. But there’s another gift that continues to thrive as a reminder of the bearers of the gift.

When our friends AJ and Lynette arrived for a visit a couple of years ago, a hardy Lacy Hydrangea took up a good part of their trunk. Happily, the plant has successfully taken root in our yard, and is a daily reminder of the good people who brought it to our home.

The best gifts are the ones that bring happy thoughts of the giver. I’m not sure that bringing someone a puppy would be a good idea, but a plant that will grow as a reminder of friendship ranks pretty high on my list of really great gifts.
