Just Wondering

Hope shimmers in many forms.
For Emily, it was a thing with feathers.
For me, visible stones in Daisy’s yard.
Promise of warmth and sunshine and flowers
emanating from stones newly freed
from their vault of ice and snow.
Did our unrelenting winter spawn delight
in something as simple as crushed stones?
Does it take a storm to create a rainbow?
Does it take an illness to appreciate health?
Can appreciation only come by comparison?

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
