Another Day in Paradise

Let’s see, the day started with cold rain; progressed to sleet, and now it’s snowing. The rain softened things up a bit so that we were able to shovel out enough to open the front door. Wouldn’t have bothered, but both front lights had burned out, and we needed to get at the lights to change the bulbs. Anticipating a hard freeze tonight, so everything that’s damp and slushy now will be solid ice tomorrow. And the hits just keep on coming!

Can’t do anything to change the weather, but I’ve decided that it’s time to start a mental shift to spring. Being trapped in the house and not getting much exercise and spending a lot of time cooking and eating isn’t good for the waistline.

IMG_1891The fact that we’ve booked a trip in April that will require my getting into a bathing suit has a lot to do with this, but this morning I spiralized a bunch of vegetables, steamed broccoli and asparagus, and made quinoa, and hard boiled eggs. Breakfast and lunch for the next few days is tucked in the frig. Veggies are ready for dinner.

The treadmill is now a line item on my calendar. It may not seem that way right now, but this winter will end, and I want to be ready to celebrate its demise.
