Waiting

A storm is brewing.
Not just any storm.
One heralded
by strident adjectives.
Historic.
Epic.
Unprecedented.
Paralyzing.
Air masses poised
to merge to create
the “perfect” storm.
Media warnings
stirring up
a frenzy of preparation.
Snake-like lines
at grocery stores,
and prescription counters,
and gas stations.
And then comes
the nervous waiting,
while Nature gathers
frightful forces
to remind us
of our fragility
in the face

of her fury.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
