Daisy knows the way.
A familiar walk
whatever the season.
She prances past
shuttered houses
under leafless trees.
Nosing under bushes
and in tall sea grass, 
following some delightful smell
that only she discerns.
We trail behind on a
winding path to the water’s edge.
Our footprints leaving their mark
on the untouched sand.
Daisy lures us out of our cozy nest
to this world of chill winds by the sea.
A quiet, beautiful world in winter
that we would rarely
experience if not for her.
