Easing Into the Day

Gave serious thought to going on the treadmill first thing this morning. I really did. Somehow, settling into a comfortable chair with a second cup of coffee and my iPad won out. Taking advantage of the fact that this is the first morning this week that I haven’t had a compelling reason to be on the move early.

The busy season seems to be in full force early this year. Calendar filling with holiday related events and get-togethers. The yellow leaves on the oaks have yet to fall, but the stores are a blaze of red and green for Christmas. Might be nice if we could focus on Thanksgiving first, but the rush towards Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier every year.

Amused by the fact that the trend in our age group seems to be to meet for dinner in restaurants instead of entertaining at home. It’s the same passing of the torch that has most of us heading to a kid’s house for Thanksgiving. “Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house,” seems to be a thing of the past. I still enjoy entertaining at home, but it’s kind of freeing not to be responsible for it full time as in years past.

This has been nice, but I think that I’ve reached my limit on treadmill avoidance.
