Ode to My Blue Polartec

Been immersed in the odes of Pablo Neruda recently with their celebration of the ordinary.  As I reached for my fleece this morning, it seemed right to show my appreciation for this simple article of clothing.

Worn thin
and faded
by repeated
washings;
stretched out
of shape
from hanging
on a peg
by the back
door.
At the ready
to ward off
the chill of
an Autumn
morning, or
an evening by
the fire pit.
Well used
rather
than old.
Years of
comfort
woven into
blue threads.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
