Blessing of the Animals

IMG_1480

Have to love a minister who wears jeans under her robes and welcomes dogs into the church for Sunday services. Today was the annual Blessing of the Animals at the Waquoit Congregational Church. Dogs, cats, birds were all welcome. Last year, there was even a pony.

Daisy drank the holy water, so she should be good to go for the coming year. To be fair, it was in a dog bowl. She also gave the minister a big, sloppy kiss. She had a good time!

There was a quote on the program that I think is worth sharing and remembering.

” There is no religion without love, and people may talk as much as they like about their religion, but if it does not teach them to be good and kind to man and beast, it is all a sham.”  ( Anna Sewell, author of Black Beauty )
