Summer Ritual

Today is one of those days when it’s very obvious that we live on the Cape. A day when the windows are wide open, and a strong breeze brings the scent of salt water into every corner of the house.

We took part in a summer ritual last night. We went to see the Falmouth Commodores play in a Cape Cod Baseball League game. Really fun night. Stands and lawn were crowded with local families and tourists alike. Professional quality game under the lights without leaving town!

Falmouth is showing its most sparking self to the thousands of people flooding our area this weekend. It’s Road Race Weekend. We met a man at a restaurant this past week who was remembering when the race totaled 100 runners. These days, the count is around 10,000. Needless to say, it’s a pretty big deal. Happily, the weather is cooperating.

Once the race is over, things slow down considerably. Families start thinking about the start of school. Summer, while certainly not over, is on the wane.
