The Whales

IMG_1354

They knew we were there.

Toying with us,

with dives and splashes.

“Go ahead, do the tail thing,”

they coaxed one another.

“It makes the boat people

squeal and shout!”

We view their majesty with

gasps of awe and wonder.

They treat us with good humor.

A pod leaped and danced and

headed towards our small

boat at high speed.

No fear at their proximity.

In some primal way,

we are one.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
