Cape Weddings

Smiling at the thought
of today’s brides.
Summer Saturdays on
the Cape mean weddings.
From Falmouth
to Provincetown,
white tents topped
with fluttering flags
wait in anticipation of
the festivities to come.
So much planning and
attention to every detail.
So many hopes and
dreams centered on
one special day.
From hotel rooms and
cottages, sheer delight
must be greeting
the blue, blue skies
and radiant sun as it rises
in the morning sky.
Weather can be fickle
on these shores. But today,
nature is beaming.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.

Your poem today brightened my mood…as I am in New Hampshire for the funeral of a friend. You helped me think of happier things. Thank you.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Glad I could help in a small way.
