Our Cardinal’s Partner

IMG_0105Our early morning visitor, the Cardinal, has a partner. The past two mornings, he has arrived with a female friend. Interesting how his female counterpart is muted in color. More brown with mere touches of scarlet. Wonder if we’ll be visited by a family soon.

She’s not as bold as he, at least not yet. He sits on the deck in front of the French doors, making eye contact with Sam, while she perches on the edge of a chair behind him. She seems tentative. Not quite ready to trust the cat and person on the other side of the glass. Our Cardinal needs to do a bit more convincing before she’ll understand that we mean no harm.

He has accepted us into his world, and we welcome him into ours. His partner is welcome too.
