Edward Gorey’s World

We visited the Edward Gorey House in Yarmouth Port recently. He must have been a fascinating individual. He was certainly unique. Fueled by a seemingly boundless imagination, his writings and interests were anything but mainstream.

I jotted down a quote when we were there that I keep thinking about. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 1997, Gorey was asked, “What is your favorite journey?” His reply, “Looking out a window.”

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.

  1. You were fifteen minutes from us! Next time you plan to be in the “neighborhood”, give a holler, please. (I just had technical difficulties with a post. I thought I had correctly placed a photo with words before and after it. When I previewed it, everything was aligned as I had wished. But when it was published, alignment was wrong. I have much to learn! ) Incidentally, the problem with editing text is my iPad issue. When I type on the laptop, no cursor problem. Ah, well….. Enjoy this gorgeous day! Xo j
