Senior Citizen With Attitude

Sam will not be deterred.
My flowers are his
breakfast of choice.
Removed from the table,
he doesn’t even wait
for a turned back
before resuming his
spot at the snack bar.
At age 14, he’s taken on
a new persona.
The cat who would hide
from all visitors has
been replaced by one
who saunters through a room.
No longer quiet,  a slow
response in heating his milk
is met with howls of protest.
 Oblivious to our feet
or even Daisy’s paws,
any patch of sun will
do for a nap. Our cat, Sam,
a senior citizen with attitude.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
