Delayed Start

IMG_1050

Spring is struggling
to get a foothold
this year.
Bare branches
still sway
in a chilly wind.
Even the birds are
 silent this morning.
Staging a strike
against yet another
40 degree day.
Daffodils and forsythia
flash bright little
beacons of promise,
but other buds remain
firmly tucked
against the chill.
Will you come to stay, Spring,
if we promise to
fully appreciate you?
No complaints about
pollen or bugs.
Just happy that a
tilted face is met with
sunshine and warmth.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
