Ode To An Ordinary Day

IMG_0976Looking out the
window
as the coffee brews.
Cardinal at his
normal morning post
at the bird feeder.
Faint sounds of tapping
as our resident woodpecker
starts her day.
Warm milk for Sam.
Clang of Daisy’s bowl
as she finishes and
turns to head upstairs
to wake the Big Guy
with a prodding
cold nose
and a wagging tail.
Tendrils of sun
filtering through
still bare branches
tempting me to come
out and play.
Gift of time to
revel in the
ordinary.

About Mary Jane

I am a retired English teacher. My husband, Frank, and I have lived on Cape Cod since 2000. I am a lifelong bread baker and writer and have been posting a blog on Falmouth Patch for the last few years. Savory Seasons has been largely devoted to recipes and food in general. I am hoping to expand my focus in this new blog.
