The Morning Routine

ImageDaisy has an unvarying morning routine. But this is really a tribute to Frank rather than a story about Daisy. He had the foresight to install a side door in the garage that opens to a fenced-in side yard that Daisy uses for her morning and late night visits to perform necessary functions.

The grandkids call it the “poop spot.” It used to be a big deal when they were visiting to go with me to watch this big event, necessitating a scramble to find shoes while Daisy stood at the door tapping her paw. I noticed the last time they were here that they no longer cared. Yet another sign that they’re growing up!

Oh yes, the fence was Frank’s idea too. It makes my life much easier since I’m the one who takes her out in the morning. I can just put a jacket over my night clothes and watch her through the window on the door. She’s pretty quick. She knows that breakfast follows the trip outside, and that’s a big draw to get back inside.

There was something popular a number of years ago called a “Gratitude Journal.” If I’m remembering correctly, you were supposed to write down a few things every day that you were grateful for. Today (and every day) I’m grateful for that side door and fenced in side yard. And I should probably add that I’m grateful for the the guy who made it happen!
