Know Yourself

Just so you know, an inn may be charming, but it probably won’t have a coffee pot in the room. This is where the know yourself part comes in. I think that there are two kinds of people – hotel people and inn people. I’m in the hotel category for sure.  I have an internal alarm that goes off around 5 AM.  I get up, make coffee, read, write. It’s my time.

This penchant for early rising is easy to transfer when we’re in a hotel. Not so easy in an inn. They don’t set up coffee in the dining room until 7:30. For a person who gets up at 5, that’s tantamount to noon. The fact that it’s in the dining room also means that one has to be ready for public viewing in order to retrieve it.

Have I mentioned that my husband sleeps like the proverbial rock? My moving around in close quarters doesn’t affect him in any way. His internal alarm doesn’t go off until I put a cup of coffee on his night table.

It’s 7:30. Off to get that coffee.
